Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Awzsome is a local deals service delivered through WhatsApp, currently serving Manteca and Lathrop, California. In this policy, “Awzsome”, “we” and “us” mean Awzsome, the business that provides this service, together with the people who operate it.

Our website is awzsome.com. You can reach us at privacy@awzsome.com.

This policy explains what we actually do with your information. Where a practice is less private than you might hope, we say so plainly.

Awzsome is automated. Your messages are read and answered by software, including AI services, not by a person. A person on our team reviews the deals we publish, and you can reach one at any time by emailing hello@awzsome.com or by sending HUMAN on WhatsApp.

2. Information we collect

• Your WhatsApp phone number: stored in ordinary readable form, because a message cannot be delivered to a number we cannot read. It is protected by our database provider’s standard encryption at rest, and it is masked in our logs.
• Location: when you share your location we store the latitude, longitude and the town or city it resolves to. We keep only your most recent location; each new share replaces the last.
• Preferences you mention: for example a dietary preference or the category you last searched.
• Consent record: the date and time you agreed to our Terms and this policy, and which version you agreed to.
• Search terms: the words you search for (for example “pizza”), the category, the city, whether we found a match, and a masked version of your number (for example 192***9567). For health-related searches (doctors, dental, eye care, chiropractic, mental health, specialists and lab tests) we record only the category, never the words you typed. See section 4 for how we use them.
• Voice notes: if you send a voice note, we turn it into text so we can understand your request, and then treat the text like any other message. We do not keep the recording.
• Conversation context: a short, rolling window of recent messages, held temporarily so we can follow the conversation. It is not written to long-term storage.
• Deals you claim: which deal, which business, the time, and your phone number.
• Reservation details: the name you give us, which deal and business the request is for, and your phone number. The next time you reserve, we offer to use the same name again. We never take your name from your WhatsApp profile.
• Business information (businesses only): business name, street address, business phone number, the WhatsApp number you submitted from, your offer details, and the date and version of the Business Terms you accepted.
• Operational logs: errors and diagnostics, with phone numbers masked. If a request to our systems fails a security check, we record the IP address it came from.

3. What we do not collect

• Your name, unless you give it to us for a reservation or you list a business with us
• Payment or financial information
• Medical or health records
• Your contacts, photos, or data from other apps
• Your browsing history, or any advertising or tracking identifiers

4. How we use your information

• To find deals near where you are, and tailor results to preferences you have told us
• To issue coupons when you claim a deal, and to tell a business how many people claimed it
• To pass a reservation request to a business, when you ask us to
• To review, publish and expire deals that businesses submit
• To understand, in aggregate, what people search for and cannot find, so we can bring in the businesses and deals people want and make search work better
• To diagnose faults, prevent abuse, and keep the service secure
• To meet our legal and WhatsApp Business Platform obligations, and to establish or defend legal claims

What we will not do. These are commitments:

• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to anyone in exchange for money or anything else of value.
• Paying for placement does not buy your data. A Featured business receives exactly the same information about you as one that pays nothing.
• We do not send unsolicited messages. We reply to you, and we send updates about claims and reservations you made yourself. We will not send promotions without asking you first.
• We do not use your conversations to train AI models, ours or anyone else’s.
• We do not build an advertising profile on you, and we do not combine your information with data bought from anyone else.

5. Who we share information with

We rely on these providers to run the service. Each receives only what its function requires.

• Meta / WhatsApp: every message travels through the WhatsApp Business Platform, under Meta’s own terms and privacy policy.
• OpenAI: the text of your messages, and any voice notes you send, may be sent to OpenAI to turn speech into text, to work out what you are asking for, and to match it against the deals we hold. When a business sends us a photo of its offer, the photo is sent to OpenAI to read the offer details. Your phone number is not sent. OpenAI acts as our service provider: under its business terms it does not use this data to train its models, and it may keep it for up to 30 days to detect abuse before deleting it.
• Google: when you share your location, only the coordinates are sent to Google’s Geocoding service to find your town. When a business lists with us, its address is sent to the same service. Your phone number and messages are not sent to Google.
• Supabase (database) and Render (hosting): where our systems run and your record is stored.
• Businesses you claim a deal from: they can see that a claim was made and how many in total. They do not receive your phone number.
• Businesses you reserve with: only if the business has signed up with Awzsome, we send it the deal, your coupon and the name you gave. We never send your phone number. If the business has not signed up, nothing is sent to it.
• Legal: we may disclose information if required by law or court order, or where needed to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public, or ourselves.
• Business transfer: if Awzsome is reorganised, sold or merged, including transfer to a company formed to operate it, your information may transfer as part of that. We will give notice where the law requires.

6. How long we keep it

• Your record (number, location, preferences, consent): until you delete it, or the service closes.
• Claims: kept as business records. If you delete your data, your claim records are removed, and your number is stripped from any record a business has already confirmed, leaving only an anonymous count.
• Reservations: kept as a record of the request and so we can offer your name again. If you delete your data, they and the saved name are removed.
• Search terms and operational logs: kept for up to 12 months, then deleted automatically. They contain masked numbers only, and health-related searches are recorded by category only.
• Voice notes: not kept. The recording is discarded once it has been turned into text.
• Business listings and Business Terms acceptances: kept as a record of what we published and what was agreed, including after a listing ends. We may keep acceptance records after a deletion request, because they are needed to establish or defend legal claims.

7. Your choices and rights

From WhatsApp, at any time, for free:

• STOP: deletes your data and stops messages
• DELETE: deletes your data
• DATA: shows what we hold about you, including your reservations and the name on them
• PRIVACY: links to this policy

You may also email privacy@awzsome.com to access, correct, export or delete your information. We aim to respond within 30 days, and we may need to confirm the request comes from your WhatsApp number.

California residents. Depending on the law that applies to us, you may have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, to obtain a portable copy, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California privacy law. Deletion does not cover the limited records the law lets us keep, described in section 6.

Do Not Track. Our website does not track you across other sites and sets no tracking cookies, so it treats every visit the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

8. Our website

awzsome.com uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Its fonts load from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when you view the site, under Google’s privacy policy. The site itself collects no personal information.

9. Security

• All traffic is encrypted in transit over HTTPS
• Incoming WhatsApp requests are cryptographically verified, so only genuine messages from Meta are processed
• Access to our database is restricted, and our service credentials are kept in protected environment settings, never in code
• Phone numbers are masked in our logs, and rate limits protect against abuse

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

10. Children

Awzsome is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email privacy@awzsome.com and we will delete it.

11. Where your information is held

We operate from the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and elsewhere. If you use Awzsome from outside the United States, your information will be transferred there.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell active users by WhatsApp message where we are able to, post the update on this site, and where required ask you to agree again. The current version is always at awzsome.com/privacy with its date at the top.
